LJUBLJANAHOST CITY OF THE REGIONAL CONFERENCE 2007

Ljubljana, the Capital of Slovenia, is situated in the heart of Slovenia, surrounded by magnificent scenery from the marshes and karst features to the forested hills and high mountains. Ljubljana offers a unique combination of natural beauty, culture and history which makes it a perfect setting for congress events and social activities. Ljubljana is the home of Slovenia’s largest University and research centres. Ljubljana has a number of museums, galleries and a big city park area that starts in the city centre: http://www.ljubljana.si/en/

In September, the temperature in Ljubljana is normally still warm and pleasant (18-25 degrees Celsius), but some colder rainy days are possible. With only 300.000 inhabitants the centre of Ljubljana is small and most hotels, shopping areas and entertainment centres are within walking distance. People in Ljubljana are friendly and enjoy welcoming visitors. Slovenians are skilled in languages and readily speak English.

The official currency in Slovenia is the Euro. Major credit cards are widely accepted.
